Global Knuckle Raul Rodrigo

Description

Finally, I have started working on my own fighting game idea! Starting off things, I wanted to post one of the 'main' characters I've made, Rodrigo. Hailing from Mexico, he's been an underground success on the boxing scene and when the Global Knuckle tournament comes about, his uncle, a former boxer, decides to sign up his nephew for the tournament. (Spoiler, his uncle joins the tournament as well.)

I was playing around with possible 'super' moves for each character and liking SFIV's idea of having selectable ultras, like the idea of each character having two. I only have one planned for Rodrigo thus far and it involves him grappling close with his opponent and causing the opponent to be thrown in the air, only to have Rodrigo connect with a strong KO cross before the opponent lands.

Personality wise, I have him planned as being reserved and fairly in control of his emotions. His uncle does the talking for him and is his family tie in Global Knuckle (GloKnux for short).

Main inspiration: I never really explain my inspirations on some works, but this being an OC, Rodrigo is based off of a good friend of mine whom I met at a credit union (bank) and is very charismatic to the point where you automatically like him before you even get to know him. Originally Rodrigo was from Puetro Rico, but my friend who was born in Mexico has a great pride in where he was born and felt it worked pretty well. I'm not too sure if there is a Mexican boxer character in any fighting games so I figured he'd make a nice entry.

Enjoy!

I'm curious to see more about his uncle and how he plays out.

As for Raul himself I do quite like his design, especially the beard (I want to call it a goatee but I'm not sure if that's the right word). I will admit when I first saw him in my message feed he did make me think of Little Mac but when I looked at him in more detail I feel the resemblance is minimal at best. I think a Mexican make character is a good choice for your universe. I understand why developers like SNK and Capcom tend to go for Japanese or American people as their "main" but I also feel it's limiting and predictable. I do quite like the expression on his face; it gives the vibe of someone who may be a little cocky but is confident and able to back up his attitude.

Nice work on this character. I am keen to see more from your fighting game universe :D
